Video Production Internship

Hours per week: Minimum 10 hours/week, Unpaid, College credit optional

Job Description Summary: Assist in the production of short documentary-style programs about Somerville, public service announcements and studio productions for cablecast on SCAT Channel 3. May also involves coverage of community events, assisting with media classes, and posting video on the Web. This internship is an excellent opportunity to improve video production skills and develop a resume reel of video projects.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Work with staff to develop program ideas and production schedule
  • Research topic and create production plan
  • Operate SCAT camera, audio and lighting equipment during field shoots.
  • Scriptwriting
  • Edit programs
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Assist with SCAT studio productions

General Job Requirements: Some experience with video production, including camera, audio, lighting. Some nonlinear editing with Final Cut Express preferred. Well organized, self-motivated, and good writing skills.

Education and/or Experience: Video production and/or journalism experience, organization and writing skills.

Language Skills: English. Additional ability to speak Creole, Portuguese and/or Spanish a plus.

Physical Demands: Some lifting may be required.
