Filmmakers' Workshop with Lynn Weissman

This production workshop is for new filmmakers seeking a direct, hands-on learning experience leading to basic understanding of documentary filmmaking techniques. As a class we’ll produce a short web video centering on activities and people around Union Square, Somerville. Students will explore the fundamentals of conceptualizing, planning, shooting and editing, and will be ready to undertake further work based on the workshop experience.

Lynn Weissman is an award-winning freelance Cinematographer, Editor, and Producer-Director through her company, Weisswoman Productions. Her films have won grant, festival, and competition awards; aired on public and cable TV and the web, and have screened around the U.S and in Canada. Lynn’s mission as a filmmaker to create compelling video that inspires reflection, laughter, and meaningful conversation about the strange, wonderful, and complex world we live in. Lynn holds a master’s degree in Public Health from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst , and a second M.S. in Philanthropy and Media from Suffolk University’s School of Management.
