Get Involved
There are many ways to get involved at SCATV.
If you are a Somerville resident, join SCATV to gain access to professional equipment and facilities that you can use to make your own TV shows. Even if you don’t want to create your own show, you can volunteer to serve as crew on various productions, including the Thursday night studio shows that are organized by SCATV staff. Another option is to join the Somerville Producers Group, a collective of producers who create “Dead Air Live,” the longest running, live public access TV show in the world. They create a new show every other Tuesday night in the SCATV studio. And don’t forget to watch Channel 3, for a diverse mix of news, arts, politics, religion, and more.
If you don’t live in Somerville, you can still take SCATV’s video production classes, or become a DJ on Boston Free Radio. Internships in radio and TV production are available. If you don’t live in Somerville but want to put a show on the channel, find a Somerville resident to sponsor your show. There is no charge for cablecast.
Somerville’s non-profit organizations are encouraged to take advantage of SCATV’s services to get their message out to clients and funders.
Get involved and help SCATV continue to be the country’s best mid-sized public access TV station.
