Portable Equipment 2: Video Storytelling
This hands-on class will take the concepts and techniques covered in SCATVs Basic Portable class and apply them towards fiction-based short movie production. Storyboarding, scripting, lighting, cinematography, audio and editing will be covered in depth as students are guided through directing their own original productions. In addition to making individual or collaborative videos, the class will produce an original practice project during class meetings. The class will culminate with a final public screening “mini-festival” of all of the projects.

PC Editing with Corel
Learn how to import, edit, and share your video projects using the new Windows computer in the SCAT edit suite. The Corel editing program allows you to easily and quickly import video directly from a DVD, memory card, or camera. Bring in your own USB or firewire dirve to store your project, and then easily export from the timeline to a DVD or a Web file. The program is fairly intuitive for producers who are comfortable working on PC computers with Windows.

Going Green with Chromakey
Grow your production skills and save energy by GOING GREEN. This new workshop is for members and non-members who would like to enhance their chromakey skills. It will cover in-camera and portable chromakey. how to arrange the background and lighting, plus the camera settings required to capture great green screen footage for post production. note*** this is not a studio green screen workshop.

Basic Editing in Portuguese
This four session class is for SCAT members and non-members who wish to learn editing in Portuguese. The class will teach students to organize their projects and edit video footage in the SCAT edit suites using Final Cut Express software. It includes graphics, transitions, filters, and audio sweetening. Students who are SCAT members are certified to use SCAT edit suites after completing a short certification tape that demonstrates editing competency. This is a special workshop.
Tuition: members $20, non-members $75

Basic Portable Equipment in Portuguese
This class is for SCAT members and non-members who prefer to learn in Portuguese. Learn to use SCAT's professional digital video cameras, audio equipment, and light kits in the field. Following the one-session class, SCAT members will have one month to take out the cameras and shoot a certification tape that demonstrates competency with the equipment.
This class meets for one Saturday session, from 10:00am to 3:30pm.
Tuition is $20 for SCAT members, $40 non-members.

Intermediate Editing with Final Cut Pro
Are you fairly adept at editing with Final Cut Express, and want to explore the added features of Final Cut Pro, the software program that is now loaded on all of SCATV’s editing computers? This three session class will explore using time code for batch digitizing, key frames for video and audio, the added options for creating moving titles, color correction, audio sweetening, and more.
Instructor Gordon Nelson is an experienced editor and teacher of film and video.

Basic Portable Equipment
In this hands-on class, Students will learn camera operation, audio techniques, and the basics of lighting in the field. The group will brainstorm project ideas and will be encouraged to work together to shoot field footage. Students will have one month after the instruction sessions to take out the cameras and get familiar with the equipment. During that time, any questions that arise will be answered by the instructor. After completing the class and at least two practice sessions, the student becomes “camera-certified” and may take out the cameras for TV projects.

make you feel more comfortable using it. Learn more about trimming
edits and transitions, creating titles and effects, creating the
appearance motion with keyframes, working with offline clips,
importing and exporting, file types, key commands, shortcuts, and
more!
